Final Blog Entry
This experience has taught me that I am not cut out for modeling. I used to love doing pivot stick animations,
taking the time to think out every movement, the timing , how to get the point that was being implied across, but
perhaps that is a completely different story with 3d animation. I spent hours trying to make my movements look
realistic and they never quite did. There were so many pieces to take into consideration.
As far as my my contribution to the project, I completed my assigned shots(52-54 eome) (2 shaping) I did not like my finished products, I did however enjoy the storyboard aspect of the assignment at the beginning of the course. I suppose my calling in this process is more story board than modeling, animation, or anything else that goes in to the software production of the animation.
What I have learned from the experience is that animation takes FOREVER! The simples of motions took me hours to finish
then rendering even on the small projects took for ever as well. I definitely have a new found appreciation for animated movies.
I did enjoy this class though, and learned a lot. Maybe one semester when I am not completely swamped I will be able to take the time to actually get good at animation instead of the stressing that I did this semester.
As far as ways to improve the process, feel it would be beneficial to start sooner on the final project, and only do one video. Working on two different animation shots was not very enjoyable. And it might be beneficial to at least have the class meet once a week in the DA lab, even if not everyone has a seat the fact that the class is a group based final would be conducive to the sharing of computers, it also allows people to see how everyone else is accomplishing their contributions. Further more working on the projects in the DA lab together would alleviate some of the mismatched shots.
